Most of the 359 new cases in Trondheim over the weekend were registered among students. On Tuesday, the Municipality will mass test 35,000 students.

On Monday, Trondheim Municipality stated that 118 of the cases were registered on Friday, while 105 were registered on Saturday. On Sunday, a total of 136 new cases of infection were registered.

The vast majority of the new infected were born between 1996 and 2002. Furthermore, 93 of the cases registered on Friday belong to that age group.

Municipal director Morten Wolden told the newspaper Nidaros that the infection is largely limited to NTNU and that over 40 areas of study at the university are affected. On Tuesday, the Municipality will start the mass testing of 35,000 students in collaboration with NTNU.

The newspaper Adressevisen writes that NTNU is asking its employees and students to carefully follow the infection control rules carefully.
