A total of 63 employees in TV2 have been granted severance package in conjunction with the savings plan for the TV channel.

– We are pleased that we already in the first round of this process got 63 voluntary solutions,  organizational and communications manager Sarah C. J. Willand says.

The deadline for applying for the severance packages was September 16. According to communications director there is a preponderance of Oslo-based employees in the editorial areas who have been granted severance package in this time. Despite this, TV2 thinks they will need to reduce their number of employees even further.

– We will need to reduce the number of employees in TV 2 even further. But the excact number of people who will have to go and how we will organize that, is something we will get back to when the strategy is presented on Thursday 29 September, said Willand to Media 24.

According to the communications manager , several people had their applications rejected.
– There have been a small number, a handful of applications, which we’ve had to turn down.

This had to do with those people possessing key competencies, which meant that we would have had to find somebody to replace them.

This spring the channel indicated that it would need to save NOK 350 million until 2020. Although it also need to find other ways to do so apart from downsizing, there has been  speculations that between 100 and 200 employees will have go from the channel, Medier24 writes.
