As shown in figures from NRK has received access too. 106,311 drivers were checked in the period of June and July of last year.

-”Now, we only check where we have reason to believe, or where there is a suspicion of intoxication in the picture. Therefore, there is a sharp decline in the number of people checked.”, says Assistant UP Manager, Steven Hasseldal.

Random BAC tests along the road were halted when the Corona measures were implemented in March. Five months later, the police do not carry out random BAC tests.

In the two summer months this year, the police have taken 435 people into custody for driving under the influence(DUI). That is 14 percent less than the 503 that were taken in the same period last year.

Hasseldal says that they are continuously considering whether to resume the random BAC tests again despite the infection situation.
