A car drove into a Christmas parade in the USA: At least five people are dead, and 40 are injured

At least five people were killed, and more than 40 were injured after a car crashed into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin. One person of interest has been arrested, the police say.

Police announced early on that there were several dead people. Authorities in the suburb of Milwaukee say more than 40 people are injured.

So far, there are no reports regarding a possible motive of the person who drove into the parade.

The incident was captured on video on the municipality’s live broadcast, and several people can be seen and heard screaming in shock when a group of young dancers was hit by the vehicle.

One person arrested

One person has been arrested, and the police have also found the car in question. Police fired shots at the vehicle during the incident in an attempt to stop it. The FBI is assisting in the investigation of the case.

The injured people were taken to hospital by ambulance and by police officers and family, ABC News writes.

The fire service states that a total of eleven children and twelve adults were transported to the hospital after the incident, but it is unclear how many other injured have been transported to the hospital by others.
