A new Norwegian airline aims to start up in 2021. The company’s team has extensive experience in Norwegian aviation and will be led by Erik G. Braathen.

“We have a strong passion for Norwegian aviation. We don’t believe the market will return to where it was before the coronavirus pandemic.

“We will use all our experience and expertise to build a new, Norwegian airline adapted to the economic reality and the needs of passengers,” project initiator Erik G. Braathen noted in a press release.

Braathen has a background as an investor and board member in Norwegian Air Shuttle in the 2002-2009 period and as chairman of the board in the 2004-2009 period.

He was also CEO of Braathens SAFE for ten years, up to 1999.

More than 25 people are now working to build the new airline.

They have asked for financial support from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The new airline plans to take off with five aircraft and have the first aircraft in the air during the first half of 2021.

The plan is to have close to 400 employees by 2022.
