A lot of sunshine expected in Northern Norway this weekend

The last week of the summer holidays in Norway will be characterized by autumn temperatures in large parts of the country, but for outdoor enthusiasts, the weekend still holds great hiking opportunities.

“Northern Norway will be this weekend’s weather winner. There will be a good deal of sunshine and not much rainfall. But it will still be cool,” on-duty meteorologist Eldbjørg Moxnes in the Meteorological Institute told news bureau NTB.

“It (note: the weather forecast) looks good for both Tromsø and Bodø. They’ll be having a great weekend.”

But most of the country should prepare for falling temperatures in the next few days, according to the meteorologist. Even in Southern Norway, temperatures could fall to 15 degrees for the weekend, and rain is expected.

“While there’s a heatwave in southern parts of Europe, it does not look like it will reach us,” Moxnes said.

A great weekend for hiking

Thus, there are opportunities for those who want to enjoy the last bit of the summer holidays before school starts next week.

In Southern Norway, bathing temperatures will remain around 18-20 degrees in the next few days.

For many outdoor enthusiasts, the next few weeks will be ideal for hiking in the mountains and outdoor activities if the calm weather persists.

“We will not get the same tropical temperatures as before, but there are still good opportunities to enjoy the sun.

“You just have to plan a little more and can’t count on sunshine all day long,” the meteorologist noted.
