A total of eleven neighbors and two residents were evacuated after a fire broke out in an electric car parked in a garage on Karmøy on Saturday night.

The emergency services were notified of the fire on Saturday morning.

“There is no danger of the fire spreading,” operations manager Olaug Bjørnsen in the Southwestern Police District told NTB on Saturday morning.

By 7:45 AM, the fire had been extinguished. But the fire can flare up again, and the electric car will now be cooled for one to two days, the fire service informed Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Eleven neighbors evacuated

Due to the fire, two people living at the address were sent to the emergency room for a check-up after inhaling smoke. In addition, eleven neighbors were evacuated.

The cause of the fire has not been clarified, and the police have questioned the owner of the Tesla.

“The car was allegedly not being charged, according to what we have been told,” the operations manager added.
