A record number of Norwegians registered new cars in December. Tesla Model 3 was the most popular

Never before have so many new cars been registered in one month in Norway as in December. A total of 20,574 new passenger cars, out of which 13,718 zero-emission cars, were registered in the last month.

That is a total increase of 82.8% from December 2019, according to the Road Traffic Information Council.

The Tesla Model 3 became the most registered car in December with its 4,232 registrations. The car also finished in second place in the annual statistics.

A total of 141,412 new passenger cars were registered last year, a decrease of 0.7%. Half of these were zero-emission cars, which had a registration increase of 27.3%.

The cars most often registered in 2020 were the Audi e-tron (9,227), Tesla Model 3 (7,770), Volkswagen ID.3 (7,754), Nissan Leaf (5,221), and Volkswagen Golf (5,221).
