A new study shows that three out of four older adults in Norway have been vaccinated against the seasonal flu.

“Women and those over 65 are better at following the authorities’ recommendation,” the director of the Pharmacy Association, Hanne Andresen, stated.

75% of those over the age of 65 say that they got vaccinated against seasonal flu, according to a survey conducted by Norstat for the Pharmacy Association. Last season, the proportion for this group was 59%.

“It has been a calm flu season so far,” Andresen said. Therefore, few people are immune to this year’s variant of the seasonal flu.

FHI’s Trine Hessevik Paulsen says that Norway may be facing a major flu outbreak.

“There is concern that the next flu outbreak may be intense, with many sick people,” Paulsen told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).
