This year, a record number of people in Norway have pre-ordered the influenza vaccine.

During the corona year 2020, Norway had 1.2 million doses of influenza vaccines, which corresponds to two thirds of the demand. It ended in a vaccine shortage and restrictions on who could get the vaccine.

Nevertheless, the vaccination rate against influenza has never been as high as during last year’s season, according to figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).

Among health personnel, the vaccination rate was 50%, among the risk groups, 51%. In comparison, the figures were 44% and 40% the year before, respectively.

The results of this year’s survey of the Norwegian Directorate of Health show that about as many health professionals plan to be vaccinated this year as last year.

This year’s influenza season is underway in Europe, and the FHI has already registered cases in Norway.
