A total of 38 wolves were reported shot in the hunting year 2021/22 in Norway. That is the highest number since the measurements began.

It is also five wolves more than the year before and the highest number since Statistics Norway began the measurements in 1994/95.

At the same time, the wolf population in Scandinavia has increased in the last three years, according to Rovdata.

Of the 38 wolves that were shot, 21 were shot during the licensed hunting period, Statistics Norway states.

Among the large predators, however, most wolverines (109) were killed, followed by lynx (78) and bear (13).
