December 2019 was among the ten wettest December months we have recorded, and it was 3.4 degrees above normal on a national basis. At Svalbard, we mark 109 months in a row warmer than normal.

Mild throughout the country

The monthly temperature for the entire country was 3.4 degrees above normal. Last month is among the 20 warmest December months in a series dating back to 1900. Relatively warmest were in the inner regions of Finnmark and Eastern Norway with 5-6 degrees above normal. A few stations in Western Norway, Eastern Norway, and Northern Norway had monthly temperatures of 1 to 2 degrees above normal.
