Norwegian member of parliament for the Labor Party (AP) Hege Haukeland Liadal has been charged with gross fraud, according to newspaper Aftenposten.

The case has been sent to the public prosecutor, according to Aftenposten.

Liadal pleaded guilty to gross negligent fraud, but not to gross intentional fraud, her lawyer Erik Lea told the newspaper on Friday afternoon.

The police have been processing the case for 17 months, after the Norwegian parliament (Storting) reported the representative from Rogaland in April of 2019.

Aftenposten revealed that Liadal had submitted false travel expenses to the Storting for several years, covered private travel expenses, and reported false distances in her driving allowance claims.
