Ahus is introducing additional measures to deal with the large influx of patients with respiratory disorders.

A news update on the hospital’s website states that Ahus is already in the process of introducing additional measures to deal with the increasing number of patients in need of immediate help. Usually, such measures are not implemented until later in the winter.

There is a large influx of patients with respiratory infections, and in addition, the hospital has from 10 to 20 patients with COVID-19 admitted every day.

“The early and large influx of patients has resulted in a challenging situation, especially in the emergency department and the children’s clinic at Nordbyhagen. Therefore, we are already implementing measures that are prepared for the winter season and measures that can strengthen the work in the emergency department and facilitate the transfer of patients to the wards,” Ahus chief CEO Øystein Mæland stated.

Increased staffing has been introduced in the emergency department, in some wards, and the laboratory due to patients with COVID-19.
