All 72 inmates in Bjørgvin prison have been quarantined after a prison employee was diagnosed with COVID-19.

The employee’s sample was confirmed as positive on Wednesday night, the Norwegian Correctional Service (Kriminalomsorgen) stated in a press release.

On Thursday, infection tracing was in place, and a separate test station will now be set up inside the prison.

All inmates will be tested during the day.

Eight employees have also been quarantined, and due to the situation, the prison has postponed all entrances and exits to and from the prison.

Furthermore, local infection control measures have been implemented.

Prison staff now have to wear face masks, gloves, and visors.
