On Friday, the number of passengers from abroad that arrived at Torp Airport Sandefjord surpassed the capacity at the quarantine hotels. Thus, people were sent straight home.

Around one in three passengers who arrived at Torp Airport on Friday were sent home instead of carrying out the imposed quarantine at a hotel. A total of 95 foreign travelers thus avoided hotel quarantine, newspaper Sandefjords Blad writes.

After passengers from two planes from abroad were placed in quarantine hotels, there was no more capacity. There were no more quarantine hotel rooms left for the travelers on the last two flights.

“On Friday, the hotel capacity was fully utilized, and 95 people were asked to carry out the quarantine period in their own home or a suitable place to stay,” Thor Henry Thorød, advisor for public safety and emergency preparedness in Sandefjord Municipality, said.

County emergency manager at the County Governor, Jan Helge Kaiser, said Skien, Larvik, and Tønsberg must step in to relieve the pressure on Sandefjord.
