Almost 1,400 meat workers from 19 companies in Norway will go into a strike on Tuesday, October 6, if the mediation with the employer organization NHO Mat og drank fails.

The Norwegian Food and Beverage Workers’ Union (NNN), which represents the meat workers, announced the possibility of a strike in a press release on Thursday.

The mediation starts on Monday, October 5.

On September 16, negotiations between the parties broke down.

“There was too much distance between the parties, and we now need assistance from the State Conciliator to get it done,” Jarle Wilhelmsen of the NNN noted in a press release.
