In the last month of the summer holidays, Norwegian registered almost 2 million passengers. The number is lower than in July.

“August was another good month for Norwegian. We carried out virtually all scheduled flights in the month. Now we are particularly happy that ticket bookings beyond the autumn look good and that the business travelers are returning,” CEO of Norwegian Geir Karlsen stated in a press release.

Norwegian had 1,996,211 passengers in August, compared to 790,220 in August 2021.

In July, a total of 2,206,424 passengers traveled with Norwegian, which was the highest number since before the pandemic. July was also the month Norwegian’s biggest competitor SAS was affected by strikes and redundancies.

In August, Norwegian had an average of 69 aircraft in operation, and 99.7% of scheduled flights were carried out. The occupancy rate was 85.5%.

“The capacity at airports in Europe has improved recently, and this has a positive effect on our operations and the travel experience of our customers. It is encouraging for the industry as a whole that conditions are in the process of normalizing after several out-of-the-ordinary years in aviation,” Karlsen said.
