Almost 40,000 customers in various places in Eastern Norway are without electricity, Elvia confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

The company received the first notification of the power outage around 1.45 PM, senior adviser Kjell Stamgård told newspaper VG.

A total of 27,000 of the affected customers live in Moss, 9,600 customers in Vestby, 2,700 in Våler, and around 300 in Indre Østfold.

“We do not know what the cause of the outage is yet, but we had a major power outage in the same area a few weeks ago.

“We have to check if there are errors in the same place as last time… I have no more information right now,” Stamgård said.
