The police seized several types of drugs onboard a fishing boat in Tromsø last week. Two people have been fired.

The seizure took place after a routine check carried out by the Customs, the newspaper Fiskeribladet writes.

Among the substances found were amphetamines, hashish, and hallucinogens. One of the people on board the ship attempted to get rid of the drug.

“Drug-affected crews can pose a safety threat to both shipping companies, other crews, and other vessels, depending on what their work task is on board.

“Most shipping companies, therefore, have zero tolerance for drug abuse onboard ships,” section chief Ragnar Dahl in the Tromsø Section of the Customs stated.

According to Fiskeribladet, the case is now being processed by the Customs. After that, it will be reported to the police.
