Andøya Space will be able to establish a launch base for small satellites after receiving approval for a total of NOK 365.6 million in financing.

“This is a historic day for Andøya and Norway as a space nation. Norway will thus be one of the very few countries that will be able to launch satellites from its own territory,” Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) stated at a press conference.

In June 2020, the Norwegian parliament (Storting) decided to give Andøya Space up to NOK 282.6 million in equity and NOK 83 million in grants to establish a launch base for small satellites.

In order to receive the financing, Andøya Space had to document that the equity would give the state a financial return.
