On Tuesday, 1,117 new corona cases were registered in Oslo. That is the highest daily number of cases registered in Oslo during the pandemic.

On Tuesday last week, 759 new cases of infection were registered in Oslo, while on Monday this week, 858 new cases were registered.

The previous peak of infection in Oslo was registered on December 2, 2021, with 1,078 cases in one day.

New measures

On Tuesday, the government introduced new corona measures to curb the growing infection in Norway. The measures include mandatory use of face masks in places where one can not keep distance from others, the one-meter of distance rule being reintroduced, and a number of other restrictions on the number of visitors in private homes and at events and gatherings.

At a press conference on Tuesday night, Oslo City Council chief Raymond Johansen said that he is sorry that new and strict corona measures are necessary.

“I am happy with the measures, but I am very, very sorry on behalf of the city’s inhabitants. And I can not hide that,” Johansen said.
