The “Stop the Islamization of Norway” organization (SIAN) and the Muslim dialogue forum met for the first time in Drammen on Saturday to build bridges and mutual understanding.

SAIN leader Lars Thorsen described it as a good start for Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

“The most important thing is that we had a dialogue and that we also had a debate about specific problems,” Thorsen said.

The initiator of the encounter, Yousuf Gilani, was positively surprised after the meeting.

Gilani: Step in the right direction

“This is a step in the right direction. I am very happy that SIAN sat down with the Muslim Dialogue Forum for two hours,” Gilani said.

The meeting was organized after several demonstrations that have become violent on occasions.

The meeting took place in a calm manner.

There was no use for the barricades the police had set up outside the premises.
