Yasir Arafat’s Nobel Prize Medal will be exhibited in a new museum for the Palestinian leader in the West Bank.

It is clear that the Islamist Hamas movement has given back Arafat’s Nobel Peace medal to the Palestinian Autonomous Authority.

The medal will be exhibited in the new museum in Ramallah when it opens on November 9, said Nasser al-Qidwa, Arafat’s nephew and head of the Arafat Institute.

Yasser Arafat received the Nobel Peace Prize together with Israel’s then Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Foreign Minister Shimon Perez in 1994.

The reason for the prize was their effort in achieving peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

When Hamas took power in Gaza in 2007, Arafat’s former headquarters in Gaza City was plundered. One of the objects that disappeared then was the late PLO leader’s Nobel Peace medal.
