Five nursing homes in Oslo have been selected for corona vaccinations between Christmas and New Year. The first doses will probably be given on Monday.

According to newspaper Aftenposten, it has now been decided where the vaccination work will start.

“We have selected five institutions that will receive the vaccine this Christmas. Then the others come in groups in weeks 1 and 2 after the New Year,” nursing home director Helge Jagmann noted.

He did not want to say which nursing homes will be the first to start with the vaccinations.

If an infection outbreak starts in one of the homes, another one will have to be chosen, and according to Aftenposten, the director does not want to give false hope to nursing homes.

38 nursing homes to receive vaccines

In total, residents at 38 nursing homes in the capital will receive the corona vaccines.

In addition to Oslo, six municipalities have been selected to receive vaccine doses from the very first delivery.

These are Ringsaker, Hamar, Stange, Sarpsborg, Fredrikstad, and Hvaler.

In total, Norway will receive 35,000 doses during Christmas, Are Stuwitz Berg at the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) stated at a press conference on Tuesday.
