A total of 50 people are now linked to a possible outbreak of the omicron coronavirus variant after a Christmas dinner party at Aker Brygge in Frogner district in Oslo.

On Thursday morning, 41 residents in Oslo Municipality were confirmed as infected with corona after the Christmas dinner party. In addition, nine cases of infection in other municipalities can also be linked to the outbreak, the newspaper Avisa Oslo writes.

The suspicion that this is an omicron outbreak has been strengthened, the medical professional responsible for the infection tracking team in the affected part of Oslo, Jorun Thaulow, stated.

“We have not received final confirmation, but there are very strong indications that omicron is involved in this outbreak,” she said.

On Wednesday, Oslo Municipality asked everyone who has been to Louise Restaurant & Bar at Aker Brygge on Friday, November 26, in the period between 10:30 PM and 3:00 AM, to test themselves.

The Municipality also encouraged people who have been to the Old Irish Pub at Majorstuen on Saturday, November 27, between 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM, to get tested. One of the guests at the Christmas dinner party was present at the location on Saturday before being diagnosed with corona infection later on.
