The insurance companies If and Gjensidige have received a total of 290 claims after the storm in Southern Norway, and they expect to receive more.

If says they have received 140 claims since Friday related to damages to private homes after rain, wind, flood, and surface water in Eastern and Southern Norway.

“There has been a sizeable geographical spread in the damage. Many people had water in their basement, but there has also been a good number of those who have reported water getting in through the roof,” communications manager Sigmund Clementz stated in a press release.

Companies and shops have also reported water-related damages. If states that it is too early to say anything about the extent of the damage in kroner and øre, but adds that it is “quite clear that it amounts to several millions” of kroner.

Gjensidige reports that they sent out a record number of 150,000 weather warnings by SMS to their customers during the weekend. They have received 150 claims, and the vast majority are related to water damage in Eastern Norway, in addition to some wind damage in Southern Norway and Western Norway.
