The Attorney General will carry out a review after Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) revealed that more than 90% of reports of possible abuse in municipal kindergartens end up being dropped.

Over the course of five years, 100 reports of abuse have been submitted by employees in municipal kindergartens.

At least 73 cases led to a police report. At least 68 of the reports, or 93%, were dropped, according to NRK.

“We will go through a selection of cases that NRK has looked at and review them to see if there is anything we can do better,” state attorney Birgitte Istad told NRK.

The purpose of the review is to find out if something could have been done differently.

“Both us and the police want to investigate these cases as well as possible,” Istad said.
