Avalanche danger warnings issued for several places in the north of Norway
In Salten, on Helgeland, and on Svartisen, major avalanche danger warnings have been issued for the last days of the Easter holidays.
In several other places in the north, there is also a considerable danger of avalanches (level 3).
“Avoid all avalanche terrain. Large naturally triggered avalanches are expected in the high mountains,” varsom.no warns.
Danger level 3 applies to Lyngen, Indre Troms, Ofoten, and Nordenskiöld Land on Spitsbergen.
When there’s significant avalanche danger, large avalanches can be triggered even with a small additional load on the steep slopes.
