The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) gave notification of considerable avalanche danger in Nordvestlandet and up towards Finnmark this weekend. There is also a danger of flooding.

Local heavy rainfall, wind and further snowfall has increased the avalanche danger to ‘Orange Level’, reported the website Varsom.no.

Orange Level (the second highest level) indicates general instability and possible landslides, even through the addition of low loads, mainly on steep slopes.

NVE advises not to travel on terrain steeper than 30 degrees.

It also sent out a special attention (OBS) forecast for Trøndelag, Møre and Romsdal, giving the possibility of heavy rainfall. In these localities, there is expected to be between 30 and 60 millimetres of rain over thenext 12 hours.
