A syringe was used twice when two employees in Fauske Municipality were vaccinated in March, newspaper Avisa Nordland reports.

According to a non-compliance report that Avisa had access to, the error occurred during vaccination.

After the first employee was vaccinated, the used syringe was placed on the table next to the unused syringe. When the second employee was to be vaccinated, the used syringe was placed in the arm of the second employee.

Fauske Municipality categorized the deviation as a serious failure in the vaccination routine. The affected person has been followed up, and blood samples have been taken. The GP has also followed up with those affected, according to the report.

Municipal manager for health and care in Fauske Municipality, Torill Mørkhagen, told Avisa Nordland that there has only been one such incident.

Subsequently, a new review of routines and training for vaccination has also been carried out.
