Bad weather in the North Sea is creating problems for oil platform helicopter traffic

A number of helicopter departures to and from oil platforms in the North Sea have been canceled on Tuesday due to bad weather – and several are in danger of being delayed.

There is a small storm with gusts up to 30 meters per second on the Statfjord field, while on the Johan Sverdrup field, there are gusts of up to 27 meters per second.

According to newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad / E24, several helicopter departures have been canceled, and several departures have been postponed due to the weather conditions.

The newspaper writes that Equinor has postponed all its departures and is asking oil workers to follow the information and updates on heliport.no.
