In order to prevent the spread of infection, Bærum Municipality has adopted a ban on russ celebrations on russ buses, cars, and the like in the Municipality.

The ban means that there can be no people inside busses and similar vehicles except for a driver necessary for moving the vehicles.

There will also be a ban on arranging or participating in social gatherings as part of the russ celebration, both indoors and outdoors.

Russefeiring is the traditional celebration for Norwegian high school pupils in their final spring semester.

The municipal authorities acknowledge that it could be difficult to define what a “russ celebration” is.

The reason for the drastic measure is the municipal chief physician’s assessment that the infection figures in recent days show an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus related to the russ celebration in Bærum Municipality.
