Bærum Municipality postponed all the 1,075 vaccine appointments that were planned on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The reason? Residents of Bærum prefer going on Easter vacation to vaccination.

“Many said that they wanted to keep Easter holy and that it is awkward to break up the Easter holiday at the cabin,” the Municipality’s vaccine coordinator Tonje Vågerøy told newspaper Budstikka.

The Municipality is now increasing its staff at the vaccine clinic at Rud in the days just before and just after Easter.

“Thus, everyone can get some well-deserved holidays, including those who work at the vaccine center,” Vågerøy said.

People not interested in Easter vaccination

Nordre Aker in Oslo has also noticed that many people are not interested in being vaccinated against coronavirus at Easter.

Assistant project manager Benedikte Varvik has informed Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that every second person has refused to be vaccinated at Easter.

The National Institute of Public Health (FHI) has encouraged people to prioritize the vaccine appointment they have been assigned at Easter rather than a cabin trip and holidays.

“If you say ‘no’ and think you can book an appointment after Easter, it is not certain that it will work. My message is quite clear: Take the appointment you are assigned and line up, and skip that cabin trip,” FHI chief physician Preben Aavitsland told NRK.
