A man has been sentenced in Bergen District Court to five years in prison for abusing his two underage nephews for a number of years.

The verdict states that the accused has committed repeated sexual abuse against two children.

The uncle himself was not of legal age when the abuse, which is said to have lasted for periods of seven and four years, began.

The abuse happened, among other things, when the two nephews were in the uncle’s home, newspaper Bergens Tidende reports.

The case became known to the police after representatives from the Center against Incest and Sexual Assault visited one of the boys’ schools.

“Sexual abuse of children has an unpredictable potential for harm, and it is, therefore, important that there is a strict response,” public prosecutor Rudolf Christoffersen wrote in an email to Bergens Tidende.
