The Bergen District Court sentenced a man in his 50s to two years in prison for rape. The man raped a woman, who was hitchhiking, in a parking lot.

On the night of October 28, 2018, the man picked up a woman at a bus stop in Skjold. She was going to a friend in Os, according to newspaper Bergens Tidende.

The woman told the court that the man drove into a parking lot, where he allegedly raped her.

The man has now been sentenced to two years in prison.

Threatening behavior

According to the verdict, the court found evidence that the man had sexual intercourse with the woman through threatening behavior and acted intentionally.

The man was also sentenced to pay the woman NOK 150,000 in reparation.

“We disagree with the court’s assessment, and the verdict will be appealed,” the man’s lawyer Kaj Wigum told the newspaper.
