A total of 41 new corona infection cases have been registered in Bergen in the last 24 hours, twice as many as the day before.

Out of the total, 23 of those infected are close contacts, three are cases of imported infections, and 15 have an unknown route of infection. On Monday, 21 infected people were registered in Bergen.

“Today, we see that the age distribution is somewhat more spread out. Six of the infection cases today are related to schools. From yesterday, we have opened up for regular testing as a replacement for the quarantine in upper secondary schools with outbreaks of COVID-19,” infection control officer Egil Bovim said.

An elderly patient admitted to Haraldsplass Diaconal Hospital has died, the newspaper Bergensavisen wrote on Tuesday.

Calculations from Helse Bergen show that the R-number is now 0.8 – that means that each newly infected person, on average, infects less than one new person.

The R-number from Helse Bergen is estimated on the basis of figures from the entire admission area, including Voss Hospital and Haraldsplass Diaconal Hospital.
