In the last 24 hours, 61 new cases of corona infection have been registered in Bergen. Out of the total, 15 have an unknown route of transmission.

Furthermore, 41 are close contacts, and five are cases of imported infection, the Municipality stated in its update on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, chief infection control officer Marit Voltersvik issued a recommendation for people to use face masks when they can’t keep their distance from others.

She also asked people to stay home for a few days when someone in their household gets corona until the situation is clarified.

“Ideally, we would like to avoid making such recommendations, but it is necessary to avoid a situation with too much infection and too much pressure on the health services. By following the recommendations now, you can help us avoid stricter measures later,” she noted in a press release.
