Big Norwegian cities want an end to the national alcohol-serving ban

A majority of Norwegian cities want to be able to decide for themselves whether it is justifiable to allow alcohol-serving, according to the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities’ (KS) network of big cities.

The network consists of Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Tromsø, Bærum, and Drammen, and the cities believe the municipalities now have very good competence for making the assessment, after two years of the pandemic.

In addition to preferring local decisions on alcohol-serving, the big cities also want to introduce corona certificates to enable access to cultural life and restaurants.
