A blood donor in Bergen has been diagnosed with Coronavirus after donating blood. Patients who have received this blood have been quarantined.

This is confirmed by Einar Klæboe Kristoffersen, who heads the Blood Bank in Bergen, to VG.

Two patients had received a blood transfusion from the donor. One was already hospitalized. The other is placed in home quarantine for safety.

– “There is nothing, neither in Norway nor worldwide, that indicates that the virus can be transmitted through blood transfusions. So far, not a single case has been proven,” says Kristoffersen.

The blood donor developed symptoms 60 hours after she donated blood.
