A woman in her 60s is charged with attempted murder after a man in his 70s was transported to Haukeland hospital with stab wounds. She denies criminal guilt.
The incident happened at Bremnes in Bømlo Municipality in Western Norway, and the police blocked off the home on Saturday where the stabbing incident probably took place, the Southwestern Police District announced in a press release.
“A knife has been confiscated, and it will be investigated further. We do not wish to comment on the details of the seizure in the case… The police are not aware that there were witnesses to the act itself, but we have talked to people who have the status of witnesses,” police attorney Fredrik Martin Soma said.
The accused denies criminal guilt
The police were notified of the incident at 2:39 PM on Saturday. All the emergency services moved to the scene, and the police arrested the woman just after 3 PM. The arrest took place without any issues.
The woman is charged with attempted murder and was questioned on Saturday night at the police station in Haugesund.
“She does not admit criminal guilt,” the woman’s lawyer Erik Lea told the newspaper Bergens Tidende.
The two knew each other
According to the police, the two involved do not have a family relationship.
“It is too early to say anything about the relationship the two have had, but the police know that they knew each other,” police attorney Soma said Saturday night.
The woman’s lawyer told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the man and the woman had previously had a relationship.
Transported to Haukeland
The injured man was transported to Haukeland University Hospital.
“The person in question suffered stab wounds and is seriously injured as a result. The police have no further information about the extent of the injuries,” Soma said.
Police say it is too early to say anything about the course of events.
“We are in the initial phase of the investigation and can not speculate on the reason or motive,” Soma noted, adding that the police are interested in tips in the case.
