As a step in limiting the coronavirus, there will be increased control of people on the border. For Norwegians, passports are the only approved credentials.

Border control at the Inner Schengen border means that everyone who travels to or from Norway must now be prepared to show valid identification.

For Norwegian citizens, passports are the only valid ID and travel documents outside the Nordic countries. This applies to airports, ports and border crossings along the roads, reports the Directorate of Police.

The measure will be introduced for ten days from Monday at 8 am and will come as a result of the government’s new regulations which open to expel foreigners without a residence permit in Norway to prevent further spread of infection.
