Brende: Military Bargain does not belong in Europe

The attempted coup in Turkey has been turned down. Now foreign minister Børge Brende is encouraging President Erdogan to build bridges in the Turkish society.

– Military Bargain does not belong in Europe or in the 21st century. It solves no problems but creates new ones, said Brende to NTB Saturday morning.

He said Norway will work closely with the Turkish authorities in the future and support the legally elected government.

– It is important that we now come together to insure  the country is not more polarized, and I hope President Erdogan uses the opportunity to ally with all those supporting  those who denounce the coup. The opposition, independent media and civil society, said Brende.
