Cargo ship ran aground in Ulvesundet

A cargo ship with 13 people has run aground in Ulvesundet in Sogn and Fjordane.

Police said the ship was heading north in Ulvesundet in Vågsøy municipality when it ran aground.
– Coast Guard and rescue ship are on site. There were no reports that the ship is taking in water,  operations leader Per Rimmen in Western Police District said.

He says that the weather in the area is good and that the ship is close to shore, so the situation is not particularly dramatic.
– But the ship needs help to get to shore, as the water level is now, he said.

The cause of the grounding is not yet known. The ship will be examined by divers.
– The crew will stay on board,  Rimmen says.
Police were alerted to the incident by JRCC at 4:02 Saturday night.
