A child ended up in the Glomma river in Elverum on Sunday morning and was rescued by a random passer-by who jumped into the water.

“A mother who was on a camping trip with children called the police because she could find one of the children.

“A man in his 20s who happened to be in the area saw the child in the river, swam out into the river, and brought the child ashore,” operations manager Øyvind Bakken in the Innlandet Police District told NTB.

The child is taken care of by the health service. The municipal crisis team has been notified of the incident.

“There is nothing to indicate that this is anything other than an accident,” Bakken said.
