China has donated 1 million vaccine doses to Cambodia. The vaccines have been developed by the state-owned Chinese company Sinopharm.

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen has confirmed the donation on Facebook.

He stated that the vaccine would be delivered via China and Cambodia’s defense ministries.

The Chinese vaccine has already been given to millions of people in China, as well as to people in Indonesia, Egypt, and Brazil, Hun Sen emphasized.

 Low infection rates

The Prime Minister believes that his country cannot afford to wait for vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The country has only registered 436 cases of coronavirus infection since the pandemic began.

However, but the infection is now increasing as a result of more cases among migrant workers returning from Thailand.
