The closure of Bryn tunnel caused huge queues in Oslo on Østensjøveien, E6 and Ring 3 un Sunday. From Monday, the capacity of the tunnel will be reduced by 3,000 cars per hour.

The tunnel closed completely on Saturday and was scheduled to remain closed until Monday morning at 5.  However, on Sunday afternoon the Road Administration  decided to reopen the southbound part of the tunnel for a few hours in order to ease traffic.
– It is important now that everyone reflect on whether they actually have to drive through Oslo. The more people who choose another travel option, the less the impact will be for the tunnel,  Project Manager Hilde Ulvik NPRA  says in a statement.
Monday morning  one run opens with two lanes, for traffic to and from Oslo respectively, and things will stay that way until the project is completed in the summer  of 2017. Then the capacity of the tunnel will be reduced by 3000 cars per hour compared to how things have been for a while.
The Road Administration expects  especially huge queues on the stretch Hvam Oslo Downtown – Vinterbro, and also at the detour routes in Oslo.
