The work to demolish the Tretten bridge after its collapse on Monday started on Wednesday. The bridge structure is to be cut up, lifted onto land, and transported away from the site.

Professionals with expertise in bridges, construction activities, and demolition work planned the demolition of the Tretten bridge on Tuesday.

On Monday, the bridge collapsed into the Gudbrandsdalslågen and onto the E6.

“Now, we have a good plan for how the work can be carried out safely, ” Aud M. Riseng in Innlandet County Municipality said on Tuesday evening.

“It is important to get E6 opened as soon as possible, but the work is very demanding. The workers must get this done in a safe way,” Riseng noted.

When the Tretten bridge collapsed on Monday, a truck and a car were on the bridge. Fortunately, both drivers were unharmed.

“The bridge structure itself will then be cut up, lifted ashore, and transported away from the site,” Riseng concluded.
