Color Line is temporarily taking one of the two ferries between Sandefjord-Strømstad out of operation due to the corona situation. Around 100 employees have received redundancy notices.

The decision is related to the significant drop in the number of passengers following the introduction of the government’s new national corona measures, Color Line stated in a press release.

“The decision involves, in this round, a notification of redundancy to just under 100 employees,” CEO Trond Kleivdal said.

Kleivdal says the company now hopes that the government will soon put in place specific schemes, such as wage compensation, which compensate for the effect of the government’s measures.

“That would help give our employees security into the Christmas holidays and until a lasting normalization (of circumstances) is in place,” Kleivdal added.

The Color Viking ferry will be temporarily taken out of service from Monday. Thus, the Sandefjord-Strømstad ferry offer will be halved.
