A man is accused of taking a bus in Trondheim even though he was infected with the coronavirus and should have been in isolation.

“As far as I know, it is the first time a violation of the COVID-19 regulations has been included in an indictment in Trøndelag,” police attorney Trygve Angen told the newspaper Nidaros, which first wrote about the case.

The man in his 50s is also charged with more than 20 violations of a restraining order imposed on him. Due to the repeated offenses, the man has been placed in custody.

Police attorney Christian Spets told the newspaper Adresseavisen that someone who was aware that the man was infected reported the case to the police.

“We believe that there is evidence that he knew he was infected with COVID-19,” the police attorney noted.

The case will take place in Sør-Trøndelag District Court on March 5.
